As the concept of connected homes becomes an accepted reality, with more of us using devices such as smart meters, smart speakers and smart boilers, we are beginning to realise the potential of technology not just to respond to potentially lifesaving issues such as fires and gas leaks, but to offer much more intelligent enhancements to our lives.
