As an organisation with a history of pioneering approaches, Healthcare at Home is examining ways of including the latest technology in its services, and following a visit to Tunstall’s Innovation Centre, staff were inspired to create their own Innovation Hub.
The Hub includes a wide range of technology, such as a Communicall Vi IP digital video door entry system, Lifeline Vi home unit with telecare sensors and telehealth solutions. Systems have been configured to enable live demonstrations, such as alerts from telecare sensors being received on a mobile phone, and vital signs readings able to be viewed on Tunstall’s Integrated Care Platform software.
Tunstall staff supported the creation of the Innovation Hub by installing and configuring equipment and training Healthcare at Home staff, not only how to use the systems, but also on the applications and benefits of the technology by means of use case scenarios.
Other technology in use at the Hub includes the Amazon Echo Show, a range of clinical health apps and Philips Hue smart lighting.
The Innovation Hub was launched at the Healthcare at Home annual Vision2020 conference, and aims to raise awareness with staff of the potential of technology to improve the lives of the people they support, as well as enabling more efficient ways of working. The Hub demonstrates Healthcare at Home’s commitment to continually improving the services it delivers and developing innovative approaches to care delivery.
Ian Hamer, Head of Digital Solutions from Healthcare at Home said “As an organisation we are dedicated to giving people choices about how and where they are cared for, be it face to face or via remote technology. We aim to transform clinical home care services and provide innovative clinical care in patients’ own homes and technology has a major part to play in this. It has been fantastic to have the support of Tunstall on this project; their expertise has been invaluable in helping us to progress towards a digital enabled clinical homecare of the future.”
