Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

With the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 every commercial organisation, which meets the financial threshold set by the Act, must prepare a Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking statement for each fiscal year. The legislation stipulates that an organisation's statement must include the steps it is taking in the fiscal year to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in any part of its business or supply chain and state that the organisation has taken such steps.

Tunstall is committed to improving our practises to combat modern slavery and human trafficking. This statement sets out Tunstall's commitment to combatting modern slavery and human trafficking in its own business and its supply chains. This statement relates to actions and activities during the fiscal year 1st October 2022 to 30th September 2023. Tunstall is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in its corporate activities and to ensuring that its supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking.

This statement will cover the activities of the Tunstall's UK businesses.

Tunstall provides technology enabled health and care solutions. Tunstall also designs and manufactures integrated NurseCall systems and communication solutions to assist clinical teams in providing high quality and efficient care in hospitals.

Countries of operation and supply

Tunstall currently operates in several countries. Tunstall is continuing a process to assess whether some activities and or countries are at increased risk in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking.

Relevant Policies

Tunstall continues to ensure that it has policies that reflect Tunstall's commitment to act ethically and with integrity and cover Tunstall's commitment to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Tunstall's policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure that they are effective and reflect the latest best practices.

Due Diligence

Tunstall carries out due diligence needing its suppliers to positively confirm compliance with the Modern Slavery Act. Tunstall's ERP system now allows it to track the compliance of both direct and indirect suppliers. Tunstall is developing its supplier records within the ERP system to enable improved monitoring of supplier compliance.

All new suppliers, both direct and indirect, must sign up to Tunstall's Responsible Purchasing Policy before they can be accepted as a supplier. This policy includes Tunstall's commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking, and it sets out the expectations that Tunstall has of its suppliers in this area.

Risk Assessment and Management

Tunstall engages with all direct suppliers annually. One of the factors considered in this engagement is the supplier's compliance with Tunstall's Responsible Purchasing Policy, which includes a commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking.

Performance Indicators

Tunstall continues to review its internal key performance indicators (KPl's) it has implemented to meet its commitment to combat modern slavery and human trafficking.

Training and Communication

Tunstall has an established training program for all new employees whose roles have been identified as being impacted by the Moderns Slavery legislation. This includes ongoing periodic refresher training.

Continuous Improvement

Tunstall is committed to continuously improving its mechanisms for identifying and combating modern slavery and human trafficking in its supply chains and its business.

Tunstall recently fully reviewed and updated its supplier management procedures for both indirect and direct suppliers. As part of this process, the company strengthened its controls around modern slavery. These enhanced controls include:
• More rigorous due diligence requirements for all new suppliers
• Annual compliance reviews for all direct suppliers
• Increased training for staff on how to identify and report potential cases of modern slavery.
• Collaboration with suppliers to improve their own due diligence processes and compliance with anti-modern slavery and human trafficking legislation.

Tunstall is also committed to engaging with its suppliers to:
• Support them in delivering on their commitments to uphold Tunstall's Responsible Purchasing Policy
• Support them to further improve their own due diligence processes.
• Confirm their ongoing compliance with Anti Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Legislation

Tunstall is confident that these enhanced supplier management procedures will help the company to further reduce the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in its supply chains and business operations.
